Diaries from Denmark II - Amazing people here, there and everywhere!
Have you ever felt like you walked into a story book? I did very recently.
If you read my last blog post BACK IN THE STATES......AND WHERE DO I BELONG? you know that I just came back from a trip to my home country, Denmark. I wanted to visit friends and family as well as setting up some sessions that I have been dying to do for a while.
I was contacted by a woman who had gone to school with my mom 40-50 years ago. She wanted to have someone capture her daughters young, little family. And I, of course, was all for that! It turns out they all lived in a small village in the woods of Zealand (an Island in Denmark). Completely picturesque with fields, grazing animals, and woods. The autumn in Denmark at that time was incredible and when I was driving out there, the sun peaked out from the clouds on an otherwise gray and rather chilly day. I arrived and was greeted by a young woman with a 1-year-old girl on her arm, a young man, and 3 golden retrievers. I felt so very welcome from the minute I set foot on the stone gravel. It bode well for our session together.
They showed me the gardens of the farm, and I was completely taken aback by the vast size of it all. We were followed around by the retrievers as well as 6 ducks. Rather often I thought the ducks thought themselves to be dogs because the were constantly on our heels, wanting to participate in the fun. Even the two horses on the farm were eager to be in the pictures.
It made me incredibly happy to be there, watching the love that the little girl had for the animals in such a young age. What struck me the most, was the warmth of every creature living on that farm. From the horses to the dogs and ducks, every single one of them acted with such care and caution when they were around the child. The whole scene looked like it was taken out of a storybook and I was the fortunate storyteller who had the honor of capturing it all.
The beauty of it all was breathtaking and the young couple, married only a year, was so very much in love. I adore meeting people my age that has such a deep connection with the nature that surrounds them as well as with each other. It was obvious that their little girl will grow up to have the greatest love for creatures of all kinds.
I have no doubt in my mind, that this will stand in my heart as one of my all time favorite photography sessions!
If you could choose freely, how would your dream family photosession look like? Please tell me in the comments below!
